Hard coatings can be added to aid scratch resistance and lenses may be anti-reflection coated to reduce glare and remove annoying surface reflections – this can make lenses look almost invisible and can be especially helpful for night driving and computer use. Lenses can be tinted or supplied in photochromic material that lightens or darkens depending upon the light conditions.
